[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, well his name actually "derosnec" is just "Censored" spelled backwards, he changed it to that i believe after the second time he was banned from OOT by Censored. Dove killers
[ QUOTE ]
Hezbollah has to attack from some geographical location, and also use other geographical locations to supply those bases from which they attack. Therefore Israel has to focus their attacks on such geographical locations. [/ QUOTE ]Are you seriously suggesting that Israel is attacking only such "locations"? Entire houses have been hit with strictly civilian families living in them! This is a game those opposing Israel's actions cannot win: Israel simply keeps labeling as "terrorist haven" or "suspicious of providing support to terrorists" anything it hits. [ QUOTE ] Look at those figures you give for the Lebanese military. They certainly seem sufficient to occupy the border areas and deal with a militia. If they aren't doing same then that nonaction is a policy of the Lebanese government which de facto makes them part of Hezbollah's attack. [/ QUOTE ]So, plainly, this a war against the whole of Lebanon and Lebanon has every right to respond accordingly -- whatever that means. If this isn't choosing the sword over the olive branch and inviting the next wave of terrorism, I don't know what is. |

Even the French would take military action in such a situation. |

Set over set
[ QUOTE ]
i[f] lebanon comes out with a blanket statement that they recognize israel to exist and will do what they can to control the situation. that and only maybe that will give them credibility as being the owner of all of lebanon. [/ QUOTE ] Please explain how Lebanon recognizing Israel's "right to exist" gives Lebanon "credibility as owner of all the country". |

Re: Walk the walk
i dont think any hate will actually be created from this. i think the hate is already there, the people who hate just need an excuse, if they even need that.

Re: how israel reacts to attacks
clearly the Lebanese government and Hezbollah are conflated to a high degree. 24 seats in the Lebanese governement are ownd by Hezbollah as well as two ministeries. The entire southern military prescence is also Hezbollah.
As for disproportionate violence, it seems to me that this is a simple utility problem. Assume Hezbollah is willing to accept some tradeoff for their lives (let this be X). For israel to deter any future attacks they need to kill more then X. If they dont its utility maximizing for Hez to keep attacking. Thus as long as Hezbollah values killing others more then they do their own lives, we should always respond "disproportionately". |
