Default Calling all in with T9s???!!

Hi,

I know a lot of you are gonna laugh at me for this but hear me out:

Don't have the actual hand unfortunately but here's roughly how it went down:

6 handed $0.25/$0.5

Hero ($30)
SB ($20)
BB ($80)

So, folded to me - I raise to $2 with T9s. SB pushes and BB pushes over the top.

Now, from playing with these guys for a while I'm probably about 95% certain that one of them has AA and the other KK. Both really quite tight and I doubt they'd do that with anything else (maybe SB might have QQ but nothing less).

So - do I call?

IT sounds like a crazy question, but given they've both got big pairs and there's two of them is this a call?

If it's not - how small would my stack have to be in order to call?

Thanks

T

It doesn't depend on your stack, it depends on your pot odds which are 5:3, I wouldn't call with less than 5-6:1.

T9s is a fine hand to play against AA/KK, but only when you can see a flop cheaply. You get out with only a small loss when you miss (which is most of the time) and stack the other guy(s) when you hit.

Also reload preflop (if it's online).

equity (%) win (%) tie (%)
Hand 1: 19.9710 % 19.86% 00.11% { T9s }
Hand 2: 63.7510 % 63.64% 00.11% { AA }
Hand 3: 16.2780 % 16.17% 00.11% { KK }

You need odds better than 1:4.

The stack influences the odds. If he has 0.01$ left he has to call, because he gets 1:25245245 (estimate).

you're right.

Since 1:4 is break-even your remaining stack needs to be at most around $5 (getting 5:21).

This is not a rebuy donkament. This brings a ton of variance into your game and would likely ruin your table image.

In a cash game you're looking to make +EV decisions, if you've less than $5 left calling is +EV so you should call. If it ruins your table image that's even better. If you care about variance with a 1:4 bet you should move down in stakes.

Let's say you really are up against 2 overpairs.

pokenum -h ts 9s - ad ac - ks kh
Holdem Hi: 1370754 enumerated boards
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
Ts 9s 267196 19.49 1100132 80.26 3426 0.25 0.196
Ac Ad 869299 63.42 498029 36.33 3426 0.25 0.635
Ks Kh 230833 16.84 1136495 82.91 3426 0.25 0.169

You are about 20% to win. That's 4:1 against winning.

If you call about $20 to win about $40, your pay off is 2:1.

So, taking a 4:1 gamble to get paid 2:1 is bad, bad, bad.

Now, if the betting or action was such that you could call all-in and get 4:1 or better pay off for the risk (i.e. you're stack was only $4 instead of $30 giving you about $2 more to call to win about 5:1 on your money), then calling would be good.
