Default overbet river poooosh bluff

villain is solid multitabling tag, 22/16/3.5, 22 wtsd

i make this play a lot when i think my opponent might have a big hand and i have the nuts. i think he often has a big hand here (AQ or better, but almost never AA or KK) and i think i'm clearly representing AA or KK, and i might play these hands the same way since i think he has a pretty strong hand (or busted draw). is the extra 400 worth it?

150 on the turn? my bet is pretty weak now that i look at it

I dont really like this at all, unless a villian has seen you over-bet strong hands like this on the river ..i think a good player will talk himself into calling this suscpicous river bet enough to make it very unprofitable.

If you are trying to take it down woudnt a turn over-bet 1.5x - 2x pot be better?

Against this guy, if you want to get him to laydown for a cheaper rate, check through the turn and raise any river.

He's trying to rep AA/KK.

I think I'd like this more if you bet a little bigger on the flop/turn.

if i'm the blind, i'm not betting the river unless i have a big hand or am bluffing in that spot. there aren't a ton of worse hands i'm calling with, and he might induce a vlaue bet from a worse hand. he also avoids getting bluffed off the best hand. and why would i ever check the turn with a hand there? there's all kinds of draws

yeah i agree. my plan on the turn was to get a cheap showdown vs a draw so i bet small hoping to check it down on the river. i wouldn't bet 2/3 pot on the turn on a board like that with a set. i'd definitely bet 150-180.

350 achieves just as much as ai here, pushing is bad.

do you think he ever folds 22 or AK IF he played his hand this way? because otherwise, i think he folds 100% of his hands just about 100% of the time here. if he played 22 or AK this wya, it's because he fears i have a better hand, right? if that's the case, a huge overbet all in has to be scary

also, i think this is probably better for me than some others because i'm greedy and have a tendency to make ridiculous overbets with the nuts. doign it occasionally as a bluff gives it a randomizing factor. even if no one notices it, it still adds shania value. if someone has a tendency to fold too much to overbets, then throwing in a bluff adds value since i won't always be doing it with the nuts. if someone calls too much, that's ok too because i still have the nuts 90% of the time.

2 from tonight. both against idiots though and second is probably really stupid but i thought he'd call w a T (which i'm pretty sure he folded because he timed the timmer all the way down). and i know i need to basically stop doing this stuff. i thought the bluff was good when i posted it. guess it's not

i think if he folded he had a busted draw and you had the best hand the whole way. if i were villain, i would never play AQ like this. otoh, i might occasionally play AK like this and let my opponent hang himself.
