My 18 yr. old female cousin's track coach. - Page 2

High school coaches are in a position of authority. They should therefore be law abiding and set a good example for the kids they coach. This guy inviting underage girls over to his place to drink is both inappropriate and illegal. Drinking underage with your friends is one thing, while still illegal, its not inappropriate. I'm sure he wouldn't have a job for long at this school if the administration found about his advances.

I think it would be appropriate to go to a school offical, stressing that while nothing horrible has happened yet, you are concerned about this coach's behavior which is clearly inappropriate. Ask that they speak to this coach. Report back here.

But seriously- while it's kinda icky and out of line, I think this is an area where you're probably best not getting involved. She's 18, she'll make her own decisions, and you sticking your nose in can just make things worse.

This makes all the difference though...he is in a position of power over her and she probably looks up to him as a role model/coach and it appears he is using this to get close to her by calling her, asking her to drink and whatnot.

Yes, obviously. To me this is the appropraite reason to be outraged, beyond her age. However, if we set out to stop every girl to which we are close from sleeping with dudes who are in a relative position of authority, something of a losing battle.

I'm not saying it's right- I'm saying it's a bad idea to get involved.
