I find it unlikely that Enterprise ran out of SUV's, so I would pressure your gf's brother to find a vehicle for you. Either way, it's got to be cheaper to rent an SUV for a day or two and drive like mad. Just make sure the rental company doesn't screw you over since you're returning the vehicle in Harrisburg instead of back in Pensacola.

Another option may be to try to find some shared moving space if someone happens to be moving from Pensacola to Harrisburg area and has some extra space on the truck Try Craigslist or call around to some moving companies. Probably won't help with the car moving, but you can always leave it behind and get it fixed in Pensacola.

Don't know if that helps.

It's not that they ran out so much as he's not able to get us the deal he 'promised.' Also, I was led to believe that it would have a hitch on it...or at least a receptacle. Now I find out that it won't have either and I'd have to pay to have one welded on ($250ish).

I think I am going to end up biting the bullit and renting a Uhaul or Budget, but I appreciate any other ideas people have.

I spent some time checking the Pensacola Craigslist and it seems pretty dead.

Have you looked into PODS? Ive never used them but I know they will ship your crap anywhere. They have a competitor now too called smartbox, which may be a little bit cheaper.

The PODS/smartbox thing isn't going to work out for me.

Anyone ever use Penske? I know the name is big, but I don't know of anyone ever using them. They are ~$200 cheaper than Uhaul/Budget.

I just booked the Penske truck/tow dolly. Thanks to anyone that offered positive advice.

Yes, I've used Penske. Almost.

I made a reservation for a truck/dolly, and gave them a deposit.

Later, I changed my mind about moving, and called Penske to cancel, and to try to get my deposit back.

ME: Hi, I need to cancel.

PENSKE: Sure, no prob. May I ask why?

ME: Decided not to move, after all. To expensive up there, I'll stay here.

PENSKE: Oh, well in that case, we'll give you back your deposit.

I think if I had replied, "I found a cheaper deal someplace else," there would've been no refund.
