Should I always raise when first in (6max)?

Trying to improve my game finally - I've read around these parts that you should raise if first in at 6max and generally I do this, most hands I play I raise with when first in. Questions is - should I really be raising 100% of my hands?

Is it not better to limp with some hands to improve the chance of getting action with your hand?

e.g. - UTG +1 and i have 22. Is this really a raising hand?

Surely, a) i want to see the flop as cheap as possible and b) i want as many people in as possible so that when I do hit my hand (222) I can make as much money as possible?

The above logic could also be applied to suited aces (trying to hit the flush) although I do tend to raise those.

6-max i raise 22+ UTG. i however don't like ATo.

in the past i would always raise coming in, but if i don't think i'll get punished i've been considering some metagame limps from ep with 98s etc.

22 you have fold equity, widens what they can put you on and if you hit your set vs TPTK you can make good $$. if you limp its very unlikely you stack anyone

It's table dependant. The more likely your opponents are to fold the blinds and allow you to win with a CB the more likely you are to raise pre.

I seem to remember a HSNL reg posting here saying he never limped, but this may well be better in his 2knl games for the reasons i stated above.

The other problem with limping good implied odds hands is it will make you easier to read by an observant opponent, unless you mix it up by limp re-raising,so it also depends on how observant your opponents are.

People are less likely to go broke in an unraised pot with a hand you beat.

So you think it's more of a +EV play raising pf w/ 22 UTG, than just folding it pf?

Just say you raise 22 UTG, and are reraised by a LAG from CO or Button, do you just smooth call his raise or reraise or fold?
