Re: Your new WSOP champ is a chump.
By the way, did anyone else note that most of the money in the prize pool is after-taxes to begin with? I hate taxes =[

[ QUOTE ] 12k for a weeks worth of work dealing cards... and they're bitching? [/ QUOTE ] I'm sure you have never bitched about how much you made at a particular job. Gimme a break. [/ QUOTE ] I've never had a particular job that paid me 12k a week. If I had that job, I WOULD NOT be bitching. |

Re: Your new WSOP champ is a chump.
Do any of the non-televised tournaments have their entry fees raked for tips? Some people in the B&M forum are were wondering about that, and they always looking for expert advice about tipping like in the thread Tipping At $1000+60 Bellagio Tournament

They already raked 2% of the prize pool for tourney workers, thats over $1,100,000. I don't know how many staff members were involved but I'd guess they all got a pretty good chuck. [/ QUOTE ] Raymer has been on here before commenting on the vig of live multitable tourneys being way to high, [censored] giving the rest of place more money, I'd tip the dealer but certainly not the whole staff. |

Possibly also worth noting casino employees (I only know blackjack dealers) earn roughly the same as qualified nurses-less dependence on tips

Re: Your new WSOP champ is a chump.
I can understand tipping someone that carries heavy luggage in hotels, those guys deserve it. I can understand tipping restaurant staff that get my food on the table. But I can't understand tipping someone that sits down on a chair, passes around cards and poker chips.
My first job ever was as a bagger at a grocery store. I had to stand there bagging groceries for many hours my back was killing me many times. Lots of times I had to do carry outs so not only bag the groceries but go to the parking lot, put the groceries in people's cars and close the back door. 99.9% of the time I got no tip. Many times I didn't even get a thank you after even having to close the back door of their car! It is unbelievable to me how a guy bagging people's groceries and even taking them to a person's car don't get tips, but for a dealer it is supposed to be mandatory and if you don't do it they give you dirty looks. How dare they even give you dirty looks? It is insane. |
