This one brings up when I am down:
[ QUOTE ]
Sometimes you eat the bar. Sometimes the bar eats you.

[/ QUOTE ]
The Big Lebowski is eminently quotable and I could fill my post just with examples from the movie, but I assume everyone has seen it and knows for themselves.

This one helps me handle obnoxious poli sci students at parties (not as much of a concern anymore, but may be useful to other poster). It's premise is uplifting to me still though.
[ QUOTE ]
People who talk about revolution and class struggle without referring explicitly to everyday life, without understanding what is subversive about about love and what is positive in the refusal of constraints, such people have a corpse in their mouth.

"People like that security guard. They don't really mean what they say. They just got their own issues and what not. Alls I got to do is keep bein' a good person. No matter what, good things'll come my way. Everything's gonna happen for me, just so long as I never have no in my heart."

"To those human beings who are of any concern to me I wish suffering, desolation, sickness, ill-treatment, indignities — I wish that they should not remain unfamiliar with profound self-contempt, the torture of self-mistrust, the wretchedness of the vanquished: I have no pity for them, because I wish them the only thing that can prove today whether one is worth anything or not — that one endures."

-Friedrich Nietzsche
