Question of morals
Consider this scenario.
As you are loading groceries into your car at the store, you notice an abandoned cart with a case of coke, bottled water, or whatever it is you drink, on the undercarriage. Whoever purchased it is long gone, as there are no cars nearby. You have no way of knowing if someone will return to retrieve the forgotten item. Do you take it? If so, do you even think twice about it? If you wouldnt take it, why not?

I don't think it would be that big of a deal to snag the item. It is already paid for so I don't see much reason to return it to the store. And finding whoever paid for it would likely be too difficult since they are "long gone."
