Default Question of morals

Consider this scenario.

As you are loading groceries into your car at the store, you notice an abandoned cart with a case of coke, bottled water, or whatever it is you drink, on the undercarriage. Whoever purchased it is long gone, as there are no cars nearby. You have no way of knowing if someone will return to retrieve the forgotten item.

Do you take it? If so, do you even think twice about it?

If you wouldnt take it, why not?

i would never steal a case of water or coke or whatever, but if it was truly abandoned, i don't see the harm.

No. The person may come back and get it. I have accidentally left stuff in the bottom of the cart at Costco before and came back and got it.

I don't take it because I don't steal.

Whether or not I get caught doesn't enter into the equation.

I don't think it would be that big of a deal to snag the item. It is already paid for so I don't see much reason to return it to the store. And finding whoever paid for it would likely be too difficult since they are "long gone."

I don't think it's immoral, (assuming were guaranteed that hes never coming back) but it would make me uncomfortable, so I wouldn't do it.

I would take items like this. I would not take a wallet or purse or anything like that.

This is exactly what I was trying to think of a way to write.
