How are the safe deposit boxes in the suites of the Rio?
Anyone with first-hand knowledge of this? Are they totally secure, i.e., impossible or nearly so to force open or carry out of the room?
Thanks, TSP |

Re: How are the safe deposit boxes in the suites of the Rio?
Well I don't have 1st hand knowledge since I have never stayed at the Rio, but I was recently in Fiji and the resort their had a room safe.
I was having a problem with the safe and was unable to open it. Someone from the front desk came in and put some snazzy little device in it and of course the safe magically opened. I guess it makes sense they have that device but I wonder how easy it is to purchase that device. I will probably continue to use those safes but one never knows. Ken |

Well, they're solid safes. However, when I checked into my room the safe was locked. I asked for somebody to open it, and the maintenance guy came upstairs, punched in ten numbers and it popped open. Nothing in there. However, the numbers weren't even starred out - I still remember the whole ten digit sequence. Perhaps some skeleton code, perhaps an one time use code? Either way, kinda freaked me out that the maintence guy could get into my safe. Housekeepers too?
