4 hours in Amsterdam

So my work is sending me to the Azores and on the way I have 4 hours to kill in Amsterdam. Is there anything to see or do close to the airport? Any good bars I need to see?

On the way back I will have to kill 8 hours in Lisbon, Portugal between midnight and 8am. Last time I went there we found the Hard Rock Cafe but that was pretty much the same as the states and it closed pretty early. Anything else here?

Take the train to Central Station (15-minute ride), and there you have all kinds of tourist stuff within walking distance: bars, coffeeshops, whores, millions of other tourists, etc.

If I am correct, there is a casino at the airport. And of course hundreds of shops.

if you mean you have 4 hours between flights, you don't have a lot of time in the city.

you can be in centraaaaaaaaal station about 30 minutes after you land. the red light district and coffeshops are a 5 minute walk from here. get high and whatever else for an hour or so, then get back on the train to the airport.

OK, sounds like central station is the way to go. Anyone know how bad the security line is typically to get back to the airport gates? Seems like I might have just about 2 hours of party time, if the line is only 1hr.

The lines are very short compared to US airports because you only go through security right before you get on the airplane and it is much quicker going through customs. You should have enough time to bang a whore and smoke some hash.
