Here\'s what PPA or one of you geeks should do for mailing Senators.
Someone should create a website with a form that lets you select your state, then enter name and email address only on a form.
That is more than enough to identify you as an individual without giving out too much info. Then you hit a button and a standard form mail against the poker bill is sent to all of the elected officials for that state, region, whatever PPA already has a representatives info page. This would generate the most response with the least amount of effort. |

They want too much personal info IMHO, but there should be a sticky link to this form since it is already done. (Mods?)

Yeah, so far I've been unimpressed at the lackluster organizing tools PPA has made available online. Considering the internet interest, abilities, and passions of its members, I'd say the group needs to start soliciting volunteers.

E-mail petitions are generally not effective:
Snopes Actually writing to your senator, on paper, is much more effective, as is calling them. |

Actually writing to your senator, on paper, is much more effective, as is calling them. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, but... because of mail screening and processing measures against anthrax and whatnot it takes an inordinate amount of time for snail mail to reach congressfolk these days. If it's at all urgent (i.e. possibility of relating to bills coming up in the next month or two) you're best off not sending it via the mail. So if you really want a paper version, go the fax route. And if you use email, just be sure that your letter isn't a generic form letter, but is instead clearly something you wrote as a concerned constituent. |

This would generate the most response with the least amount of effort. [/ QUOTE ] Because, after all, expending the least amount of effort is really what's important. |

Re: Here\'s what PPA or one of you geeks should do for mailing Senators
My senior senator auto replied that only emails with Name and Address that could be identfied would be addressed. And I'm from the smallest state in the union, I think. (Is wyoming still the smallest? I think we have 12 people now)
So don't lie on that crap, they filter just like you do. |
