Chimp - Vito's in Los Feliz, but it closed like a year ago
I was just told Village Pizzeria in Larchmont Village (south of Beverly on Larchmont) is OK. About to head off and try it. The standard answers to good pizza in LA are Mulberry (Beverly Hills), Abbott's (Venice), Casa Bianca (Eagle Rock), Caioti's Cafe (Studio City, same pizza as Spago's). I don't really like any of these places. -Al |

I went with Grimaldi's, although John's on the Upper West Side was really good (until they closed their doors).
I'm a big fan of Two Boots, and when drunk, Pizza Booth on Bleeker. |

All of these places have their off nights, obv. I've had Grimaldi's when it was too soggy, and Lombardi's when it wasn't hot enough. I voted Lombardi's but upon futher thought, I probably should have voted Grimaldi's. I let the fact that Lombardi's is within walking distance of my place cloud my judgment. I like Ben's and Joe's for slices.

Best Pizza is in the Bronx, Emilios' on Morris Park Ave or Captains I am partial to Emilio's but they have had a rivalary who made the better pie for years in my neighborhood. They make everything good too. There's also many fine italian resturants up by me (Includeing the infamous "Louie's" from the Godfather). Anyway I will stack there pizza against the best you got. Lastly, Manhattan has no good pizza, they come close but meh. [/ QUOTE ] About time there was some love for the Bronx. I've probably eaten at both that the above poster mentions, but can't be sure - it's been many years. I'm a sauce junkie. Most decent places can get the crust and the cheese right, but, for me, the sauce is where the decision is made. Catania's and Ivana's on Arthur Ave. are both good. Catania's has better sauce, but Ivana's has gigantic slices. For the suburban market, I have to mention Sal's in Mamaroneck, NY. I consider it one of the best sauces out there. To the OP, you're judging GDS pizzas. To properly judge pizza, it must be crust, sauce, cheese, or as my grandfather would have said, "Without all that goddamn [censored] on it." |

The best pizza I've ever had was in Howard Beach (queens) where I was born at New Park Pizza. Winner hands down. [/ QUOTE ] Very good pizza, but not the best I've had. Strange you were born in the pizza place. Is your last name Gotti? |

New York Times voted this Phoenix restaurant the best pizza in the nation. If you are ever in Phoenix make sure you go. There is nothing I have ever had that comes close. http://www.azcentral.com/home/food/a...ianco0621.html [/ QUOTE ] I've been to this place 3-4 times but I think both Nick's and Grimaldi's are better. That place is very cool though and pretty popular. I'm surprised more of you haven't been out to Nick's in queens. Random good one: by the driving range in edgewater there is a little italian place with really great pizza. anyone been there? |
