NL 100: JJ overpair on flop
No reads/stats on either villian as both are fairly new to the table.
This is one situation that I often find myself questioning my plays from early position. Preflop: standard smooth call? 1st to act post-flop: What do you do? After he bets $20, what do you do? Party Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.50/$1 10 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $157.95 Hero: $145.18 UTG+2: $66.45 MP1: $93.75 MP2: $67.85 MP3: $150.90 CO: $69.72 Button: $100 SB: $107.50 BB: $100 Pre-flop: (10 players) Hero is UTG+1 with J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG folds, Hero raises to $4, UTG+2 calls, 4 folds, Button raises to $10, 2 folds, Hero calls, UTG+2 calls. Flop: 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($31.5, 3 players) Hero checks, UTG+2 checks, Button bets $20 |

Re: NL 100: JJ overpair on flop
I generally would re-raise the Button to see where I'm at. If he re-raises, I would probably fold.

Re: NL 100: JJ overpair on flop
A reraise commits him to the pot. With no reads you have to assume villain's got something here since he reraised the UTG raiser preflop. The only reason to believe that we're ahead here is his weak $20 bet into the $35 pot. But with no reads I don't feel comfortable stacking off on the flop.
I don't like c/f either though. I'd probably c/c the flop then c/f or c/r all in on a non broadway turn depending on his bet. |

Re: NL 100: JJ overpair on flop
I hate these spots.
Preflop I always tell myself that I am playing for set value only. Then a low flop comes along and I go broke to a higher pair. A reraise preflop FR usually means QQ+/AK. UTG+2 will usually have a pocket pair or AK. Try leading flop for 20$ then shutting down. 66-TT willl usually just call, QQ+ might both call or raise. AK will sometimes fold, sometimes call, rarely raise unless it is AcKc. Hard to tell without a read. I would definitely give up if turn is a Q, K, A, or a club. |

If I did check/call the flop and a Q K or A hits the turn then I am lost again. If I bet out the flop and get raised, I most likely have to give him the benefit and fold. |

Anyway...
Button bets $20, Hero folds, UTG+2 folds. Uncalled bets: $20 returned to Button. Results: Final pot: $31.5 Button shows 8s 8c |
