Re: helpful \"aaron brown\" on cover of active trade magazine..
That cover is nice and all, but it is nothing compared to the author picture in Poker Face of Wall Street. First of all, he's got the sack to put it on the front flap instead of the back, as if to say "this is who you're dealing with - if you don't like it, put the book down, take your latte and leave the store, wussy."
Secondly, the picture itself is awesome - it's part Doyle, part Jesus, and part "get the hell offa my lawn you little bastards or you'll be crapping buckshot for a month!" But I guess when you run a magazine like that you have to be conservative. Ah well - there's always Guns and Ammo. |

Re: helpful \"aaron brown\" on cover of active trade magazine..
The book picture credit belongs to Dwight Carter, a wonderful photographer whose studio happens to be a few blocks away from me. We started with a suit, and ended up with the leather jacket and hat.
I take credit for the front flap. The cover designer (the guy who thinks you use NECCO wafers for chips and can play poker with two different decks at the same time) wanted no picture at all, then agreed to a thumbnail on the back flap, but I held firm. |
