This is my first hand post... be cruel- any help would be appreciated. Let me know if you need additional info.
UTG+1 is absolutely brutal. Regularly going to the river with Arag, never betting, just calling. Has cold called with any two suited cards routinely. The only hand I see you ahead here is AQ, some Arag or small pair but since he's so passive, he can has anything. You are out of position too. This one is hard, I guess I played the same way, but let's hear the guys who really knows about poker, what is not my case, YET!

wow great hand. [/ QUOTE ] This is pretty solid. At least you're not a wimp. At the river, though, you could consider checking with the intention of folding if this guy wakes up and bets. |

Looks good to me. I like the river bet a lot. If he wins.. oh well. Having a habitual caller is going to make you money.

jsut read this section in SSHE... I think the only time we need to slow down is when an ACE is on the board vs loose passives

She showed Kd 3d.
I find the I'm losing a significant percentage of hands like this and was curious if I was too agressive. If I was raised at any point, I would have given it up. Given that she could have been playing anything (QT would not have surprised me) I figured it was worth another bet. |

[/ QUOTE ] Question: Why the river? It looks as though most things that have him beat (Any King, any Jack) are already out by the turn. It is in my opinion that once the turn hits it's time for some defense? Are both opinions ok or some one please explain why. Perhaps my last session has me a little nervous about situations like this, but I'm trying to improve as much as give advice so please comment. |

well, you seemed to have sized up UTG+1 well...your question is what to do about it?
but first a couple of more questions...i believe if you review the stats you have on that person you will see that she is playing more than 30%, probably more than 40% of all hands?...also, she raises very little, and has an aggression factor below .5%? also, was the rest of the table playing in such a way to reward that kind of play? (was there mostly limpers of 6 to 7 without any raising from the early/middle seats?) i think your strategy should be to attempt to isolate her heads-up (that is raise behind her to discourage anyone else from playing that hand)...did the person playing in UTG+2 and MP1 begin to do that? and if so, did she tighten up on her starting hands or play more aggressively? (btw, you will also get an idea on how smart UTG+2 & MP1 are) so, if it looks like she never varies from her method of play despite the conditions, you have found yourself a fish...try to isolate her heads up when you've isolated her, raise when you feel certain you have the best hand...check/call if you believe you might be trailing as she will not bet to charge you a price to stay in the hand...i've know players like that who delight in having someone bet in attempts to push them off a hand and then showdown a winner...but it upsets them to have a winning hand that wins only a small pot because no one bet to give yourself the best chance of isolating her #1---change seats to sit right behind her and raise to isolate her heads up... #2---stalk that person...search for her on-line and sit behind her whenever possible sure, it may seem cruel...but to free yourself of any guilt feelings you may harbor, think of it as providing this fish with a lesson/experience on how to play...one she will appreciate more because she it cost her--some day she will thank you for it!!! what is he calling with is what im asking. maybe check on one round to see if he bets. check river for cheap showdown>? will a checkraise work>? im not really sure.
i think on the turn realize you might be beat. check call if villian is likely to bet with second pair. fold if king is likely.... GRUNCH. |
