Default 2/4 in AC last weekend

Played 2/4 at the Trop last weekend and felt like I was playing well. Played for about 5 hours and was up $5, $1/hr...lol! The reason I am posting is I had a hard time coming up with a solid strategy. The players didn't seem great, I felt like I was the most solid at the table. It was impossible to bluff, so you had to have a hand. Anyone have any pointers for this level of play?

Read WLLH and SSHE. Start higher than 2/4.

Obviously you were not playing correctly.

That game is designed for alcohol consumption and the passing of time.

1) no need to bluff so don't
2) Value bet
3) Value bet
4) Value bet
oh and thank the good lord at putting you at such an excellent table.

When I started playing poker it was just unfathonable to me that I wasn't crushing all of these obviously bad players. I was doing it right (or so I thought) and they were doing it all wrong but yet most of the time I was losing. As it turns out I was doing a few things wrong, but I was forced to realise that frankly the point of the game is not to win the pot right now. THe point is to win the most money you can over time and the only way to do that is by making correct decissions. THe kick in the nuts is that in live play you can make all the right choices and still run bad for a nice half a year or so.

Thanks for the replys. It sounds like bluffing is a "no-no" for the most part at this level. I do like to see a good amount of flops, especially when I'm in posistion. I really think this level can be profitable.

The rake at most 2/4 games in B&M's is terrible. If it is beatable, it isn't worth your time in terms of $/hr.

I would move up as fast as you can learn and are able.

You can bluff in this game profitably, but you really need to pick your spots, of which there will be rather few.

Or read the Micro & Small Stakes 2+2 forums which has discussed how to beat this type of competition every day for years?

At my "local" casino, the only fixed limit game spread every day is the 2/4. The rake is cost prohibitive. I used to go 2+ times a month, but I've only been twice since January. If you are playing online at the 1/2 or 2/4 levels, the competition is better, and you can (IMO) make more money. I'm also of the opinion that these types of games (especially for online multi-table players) can bring back some of the bad habits we work so hard to get rid of.

That being said, at these games I do the following:

-Play super-tight up front.
-Loosen up in late position in unraised pots. If you hit you'll get paid off.
-Value-bet (as said above).

Oh, and don't forget to tip the cocktail girls.

That was the strategy I was going with. I'm starting to understand the importance of value betting.

Even with a nice tip, they were almost nonexistent.
