mistake preflop. How do I play from here?
I messed up! I should have raised here preflop but I missed the button. Help me evaluate whether to bet out or try for a check raise?
In reviewing my play a fellow 2+2er suggested betting the flop because "I have no reason to believe anyone will bet, and letting it get checked through would be a disaster". I did not agree because if I bet out I really don't have a good idea of where I am. If I am called around I dont know who has the flush and is waiting to check raise me. If I get raised I dont know if they are representing the flush/flush draw, or if they are trying to see if their K might be good. This way seems to have me calling to the river just in case. I liked the check raise because If it is successful I have a better Idea of how strong their hand is (if I am reraised for example)and could fold easier if I am beat. I also get paid off by anyone with a single spade (assuming a fourth spade doesn't come)and anyone with a worse King. I would love some comments on how to evaluate this situation. Bet the flop. Bad idea to check with a .32 AF on the button and the aggro guy on your left who you wouldn't mind raising if you bet.

Re: mistake preflop. How do I play from here?
Unless Button wakes up at some point, I think you're going to have trouble figuring out where you stand anyway. So you might as well lead, I think.
Edit: On monotone flops, it's hard to figure out what anyone has, so reads become difficult. Anyway, I was responding blind, but I agree with what Sharpie wrote. |
