It is definitely possible to turn off autoupdate...
You do not need seperate accounts.

Don't have itunes on my laptop so I can't tell you how,but if you play around with it for a few minutes should be able to figure it out.

never tried it myself, but you should be able to do it by switching to manual sync mode.

Why don't you just have 2 seperate iTunes libraries? alternatively you could just change the auto-update preferences to your music and gf's music (this can be done easily by tagging the music and creating a filter on the autoupdate or making different playlists which autoupdate). I do this with my 2 iPods, my nano updates with totally different stuff than my regular 60 GB one.

for someone who's absolutely wrong, you sure do have an attitude problem.

I have a 20g ipod and my gf has a ipod mini, and to get music on to hers she has to individually update her library, whereas my ipod updates automatically, since i have less than 20g of mp3s, this is practical for us.

she says there was something special she had to do, but that she can't remember what it was. i'm assuming that it was she had to tell itunes not to automatically update her ipod when it was plugged in.

so yeah E-Z, perhaps when you're incorrect you should consider not using 1 word answers followed up by beligerancy.

You can set it up so that it only automatically syncs particular playlists instead of an entire library. Each make a playlist for what music you want on your iPod, set your iPod to synch to that playlist, and bam, you're fine.

I have a 60 gig iPod and have about 70-80 gigs of music, so that's how I manage what ends up on my iPod and what doesn't.

If she has any older/younger brothers, make sure she keeps it well hidden from him/them. Those ipod nanos are pretty cool gizmos and it could end up becoming misappropriated. Do you see why ?
