All in situation at trop in NYC
5-5 no limit at the trop. 3 players in the hand, First player with $50 stack puts in $30, next player (big stack) says "I'll put you all in" and throws in $50, third player calls, first player calls all in. I tell big stack to be careful, because what he said may be construed as going all in. He assures me (in not so many words) that i am in idiot and that everyone at the table knew he meant that he was betting $50.
Am i an idiot? Are there clubs/rooms around where this might be misinterpreted as him going all in? |

Re: All in situation at trop in NYC
Well, they might say he has to raise to at least $60, since there was a 3rd player.

Re: All in situation at trop in NYC
The raiser's action is not legal, he needs to raise to 60 if he wants to make a raise because there is a live hand behind him. However to address your point, if he said "I will put you all in" and the bettor had more chips than he initially thought, he would then be required to bet that amount.

Did the AC trop always have 5-5? I don't recall seeing it the last times I went.

Re: All in situation at trop in NYC
I'm guessing OP is using Trop as a place holder for a card game in one of the 5 boros. 5-5 is a pretty common game round here, usually 300-1500 buy in, plays similar to the 5-10 in AC when the table is good/not filled with local nit/rocks.
Anyway, thats the typical macho retard move in one of these games, I usually take a statement like this to mean that the person doesn't know what they are doing and I will want to play big pots heads up with him. Get on his left if possible, he will play too many hands and make way too many bad bluffs, be prepaired to make some marginal calls and snap them off. If he hapens to wake up with a hand, oh well, you'll get it back. Debating the finer points of betting with this guy is pointless, he's just there to gambol it up. If he tilts easily, and you are getting under his skin with nitty [censored] like this, then by all means, go for it. |
