How bad is Compton, CA?

One of my family members is currently living in Compton.
He's a caucasian from the midwest.
I thought he was joking, but he said Compton isn't that bad.
I don't know a lot, except it's a notorious ghetto.
How bad is it?

From what I've heard, it's not as bad as its reputation makes it out to be. Especially during the day.

Like kindergarden, if you compare it to anywhere in Iraq. Say you are afraid of a place like Compton or any place in the USA to an Iraqi Vet they might call you a wuss.

FYI, Compton is pretty big. Saying it's "bad" is not unlike saying Phoenix is "bad"...it's big enough to have tough parts and decent areas. It is adjacent to some decent suburbs, it's also next to Watts and South Central.

That said, it wouldn't hurt him to learn how to c-walk.

Compton isn't that bad...at night its not some place you wanna be cruising but during the day in a lot of areas you wouldnt even know you were in "compton"
