Default River value spot

No reads except that the table seemed pretty tight/normal. What should I do on the river? Do you like the turn check?

I hate the turn check. If he bets and you raise its obvious what you have. Bet the turn and let him call down with an ace or a lower pair. He wont bet into you with an ace (well, most players wont) however he is likely to call you with an ace high. Checking this turn is too tricky and will only work optimallly against certain players. Also, checking the turn leaves you open to an overcard on the river for free. I just dont like it without a read.

As played, bet out $30 on the river.

--too many shorties at that table.
--not a fan of the turn check without a read and agree with tickner.
--bet the river. I'd bet in the $40's to look more bluffy. Hey my AQ missed and I'm just gonna take a shot.

Do you really think that average joe is waiting to raise this turn with his JJ or whatever? I know that a turn raise is rare in this spot, but when we are raised it seems that we can't be winning that often.

What's he repping, quads? AA maybe? You get people stop-raising and semibluffing here, or just plain floating and raising the turn.

Very few reasonable hands are ahead of us. We'll be beat in this situation, at a guess, 2% of the time? So even if someone is making a weird move only one time in 50 on this turn it's an easy call. Obv a read could push things in either direction.

Yeah, I think you can bet three times for value. And the riverbet shouldn't be a pussy bet, or he'll reraise you with missed spades. If he still reraises you after a good bet riverbet, you might fold, as no lower pocket pair is raising there ever (besides a 6).
