Default MP3 players

Is there a difference between the sound quality from the different MP3 players (IPODS, Creative, Panasonic etc...) Or is that more of a function of the headphones? What about between the various IPODS (shuffle, Nano etc..) I am thinking about getting one but will only need the capactity to keep 300-500 songs.

Mods: Not sure if this is the correct forum anymore, so if its not pls move it.

I can't really answer your question, but the most important thing is: DO NOT USE THE IPOD HEADPHONES. At the bare minimum, go to Target and pay $10 for the cheapest brand-name earbuds on the shelf. They will sound one hundred times better than those white pieces of [censored].

Dunno, I have a 5th gen video ipod, 60GB and like it. One caution, though, about storage: I wonder if your needs for storage will grow and be greater than what you think it is now -- sort of like with computers. Also, the various units have add-ons that give you capabilities you may decide you need, like voice recording, or giving slideshows, or whatever. Something to think about.

there is a pretty big difference in the quality of Mp3's you can download/play, as well as a big difference in the quality of sound you can get from different headphones/speakers.

there is a difference in how LOUD different MP3 players will go, but I don't think there is a big (if any) difference in the quality of reproduction of the actual MP3s.

basically like with CD players.

If you TRULY are only going to have 300-500 songs, then the Nano is clearly the way to go. Note however, that you will almost surely end up wanting more capacity than you thought you needed to begin with.

Eh, I have the Nano and I don't wish I had more capacity.

I have about 130GB at home but I was really thinking I could just keep a rolling rotation of a few hundered songs for working out, airplane flights, yard work, etc...
