okay thanks for the stats Cair. 75% is pretty damn good, especially when goals are SO HARD to come by.

Gonna be an exciting match, but even if Portugal has many attacks I have a feeling France will win. Barthez and Zinedane playing solid will affect the rest of the team too.

[/ QUOTE ]

barthez at some point will cost France this World Cup, i cringe every time the ball is within 20 yards of him, he is awful and is being saved by as solid D.

Hehe , I like him very much and it seems to affect my judgment of his play .

The Ronaldo booing is disgraceful.

Its good practice for him he will get it all next season if he stays in the PL, I suspect even worse than tonight.

Why is Pauleta playing? Does he ever score? I don't remember him scoring in Euro2004 either. Where is Simao Sabrosa?

A good point. But it's a shame to spoil such a big match.

After his encounter w/ Rooney and England, I don't see anyway he could/would possibly stay in the Premiership next season. He'd be public enemy number one at virtually every stadium, perhaps even his own Old Trafford. I'm not sure Madrid will be his destination, as rumored, but surely he'll be playing somewhere in Spain.

Hey look! There's been a Pauleta sighting!

There's no way it's 99%, ESPECIALLY when you're talking about some of the best keepers in the world. With Ricardo up there I'd say Zidane makes that PK 60% of the time. The fact that he even made it is a testament to how awesome Zidane is.

[/ QUOTE ]

Is this true? Only 60% from that position?

[/ QUOTE ]

PK percentages are closer to 80% than 60%. it's still not a given that they are converted though. source

the point of the harsh penalty is indeed to promote clean play in the box. the world cup officials should be penalizing diving more liberally. pretty much everyone realizes and supports this.
