Re: WSOP nostalgia
I played in the 2004 mega-satellite at Binions ($1060) - I think it was two days before the main event started. It was the session that started at 11PM and about 450 people played for 43 spots.
It was my first live tournament and I was basically clueless but managed to build my 2,500 opening stack to about 6,000 when I lost a tough pot with AK of spades on a 10S JS 4D board - 18 outs twice to pocket deuces but lost! Lost half my stack on that one and tilted off the rest (lasted for about 2hr 45 min). Binion's was fun but it was way over-crowded. Played in the mega-satellite in 2005 at the Rio, similar number of people started the tourney, built my 3,000 opening stack to nearly 8,000, then lost 5,025 of it with AK again. Went out with about 265 people left. This year, I am in the ME and am starting on day 1D. CAN'T WAIT!. (will try not to get to involved with AK though!) |

Re: WSOP nostalgia
Before passing away, my father George Fisher worked as the Director of Poker Operations at Binion's and did a lot of work with the WSOP when it was there. I was always too young to play back then though.
