High Stakes Poker players playing beyond their means?
Do all of the guys (and Jennifer) that have been on HSP regularly play at this level or are some playing way over their heads?
My impression is that really only Daniel, Freddy Deeb (season 1), Barry G, Doyle and son, and Farha look like they're in their element and we already know that this is chump change for Jerry Buss. But why is a cooch doctor and restaurantuer from Chicago risking so much money? I can't believe either of them have a net worth of over $5 mil which means they are staking at least 2% of their entire net worth in a game in which every player at the table is better than them. In addition, is it out of the question that Antonio and Laak are pooling their bankroll together and dividing the net? Antonio is awfully happy go lucky for a guy that kept losing with his premium pocket pairs while Laak didn't seem too overjoyed with his $190k bounty. When are they going to get rid of that stiff dog commentator opposite of Mr. Kotter? Where is he from anyway? Lastly, how does the Game Show network compensate the players? |

Gabe Kaplan is a great announcer. He's been playing poker for probably 30 years and knows a ton about poker. They would be stupid to get rid of him .. his jokes are hilarious on that show. Great commentator.
They get paid just over a 1000 an hour when they play. Laak and Antonio have played up to 200/400 before so this game is about twice as big as they've probably played before ( with the ante being in play ). I think it's safe to say these guys probably could have up to about a million or high 6 figures. So even if they did lose a buyin or 2, it wouldn't be devastating to them. I mean losing 100k-200k and still having a 500k bankroll ? It's a lot different than a 5/10 player with a 25k bankroll jumping up to 10/20 and losing half that and being down to 12k or 15k. |

Also who knows if Tilly could even have a piece of Laak in this game. Seems plausable right ? She's obviously got the $ to back him in this game if he did need it.

You could tell he was sick as a dog. |
