Default Toto\'s sick call today

Hey all, thought I would share this really interesting hand from the WSOP today - I believe blinds were around $1k/2k with a 250 ante.

------------------------------
From cardplayer live updates:

Humberto pushes all-in from the button for $21,900 and Toto Leonidas calls from the small blind. Brenes turns over J5 and Toto has Q3. The table all stands up and yells when both hands are revealed. The board comes K424A. Brenes is eliminated by Toto.

I know Humberto is regarded as a pretty tight player too, which makes the call even more impressive to me. What do you guys think?

Doesn't mean anything, Toto is just a maniac.

2004 US Poker Championship broadcast, he called a guy's all in for almost the size of the pot with KQ on a 6-9-10-X board.

Toto must've picked something up based on the force of Humberto's all-in.

I think Toto is a calling station. Let me rephrase... Toto is a calling station. 'If you never fold, you are you going to make some unbelievable calls.'

That wasn't a sick read, that was just sick.

Even if the guy looks weak because he's pushing K4o, you're still way behind.

How do you say "moron" nicely??

Even if the cards were face up and Brenes pushed, calling with Q3 versis J5 is just not worth it. The edge is small and the chips he would have by not calling, and losing are greater than the chips he would possibly gain by calling... and winning in a better situation.

It's real simple, as yourself "is this the best spot to get my money in?"

You don't sound like a very good tournament player...You gotta realize that blinds and antes are getting high, players are making moves, and you can't sit back and wait for a better time than when you're a 60/40 favorite with 13:10 on your money. If I were in Toto's spot and I could see Humberto's cards, I would call in an instant.

Snoh84,

you would call in the small blind if you could see his cards even with the BB behind you? I would fold this everytime unless I had an absolutely monster stack.

Hm...thought he was in the BB, but looking at it you're right he's in the SB. IF I could see Brenes' cards, oh that would be interesting. Depends on who was in the BB and how many chips he/she had, I guess is the short/easy/correct answer.
