im rebuying right away

[/ QUOTE ]

i ended up not rebuying right away. i dont want to kill my action in a 3k vs 3k confrontation where id get action if i only had 1500 and couldnt knock them out among other reasons.

[/ QUOTE ]

Your thinking backwards.

[/ QUOTE ]

In a 3k vs 3k confrontation opponent will play as if its a non-rebuy tournament. I want it to be 1500 vs 3k so they make decisions like its a rebuy tournament. Rebuying right away also slightly increased your cost per chips (admittedly not an important amount), and if you go broke somehow(which happens to good players even) you are deprived the chance to add-on.

[/ QUOTE ]

Your going to lose this argument. We've re-hashed this topic hundreds of times. Rebuying immediately is the most +EV play you can make, if you believe you have an edge on the field.

If you do not believe you have an edge on the field, don't play.

Your arguments apply to unlimited rebuy tournaments. They don't (neccesarily) apply to limited rebuy tournaments. Quit being a pushbot !

They apply to both. We've done specific threads about these. It's been proven time and time again. Sorry.

Take the rebuy, play it like a freezeout, this is absolutely correct
Take the add on

taking add-on = no-brainer. from the way i saw people play one their first buy-in and their second buy-in i'm not 100% convinced that taking the rebuy and playing it like a freezeout is better than passing the rebuy and playing it like a rebuy tournament. How much do i win with 66 on 652 flop vs 45 if both opponent and I were $3k deep? How much do I win when I have $1500 and they have $3000?

well, you definitely can only win up to 1500 if you have 1500; you can win up to 3000 if you have 3000.

Gotmilk,

You are way overestimating the average skill level in these things if this is the way you are thinking. More importantly, you are overestimating the thought process of a good number of your opponents.

Rebuying right away and playing freezeout is correct.

Remeber lots of players in this tourney will put in raises on the turn in the face of aggression with one pair and lose 80BB's in the process. If you only have 40BB's in your stack you lose out big time when you make hands against those who cover you.

Then the "loss" of the extra chips you could have won gets compounded in future pots where again you are covered.

You are good at poker, get more chips so you can win more chips.

Regards,
Woodguy
