Default Casino War question (used search to no avail)

I have not played casino war, but assume that it is like regular war card game played at home as a child. If so isn't this a break even (50/50) proposition? If that is the case why would the casino offer a game that does not have +EV for the casino?

Thanks for the responses,
Mygtar

If you go to 'war' you have to raise your original bet. If you win, you get paid even money on your raise, but the original bet is a push. More info here
