Okay Okay, it's not entirely meant to be a [censored] dead end job. Just something fun, relaxing, and laid back. Just something to pay the bills...for the last 9 months while I'm in California, not looking for a career here.

Get yourself a job as a barback and work your way up to be a bartender.

it seems like it's pretty hard to actually make that promotion, and that you usually have to quit and get a job bartending someplace else once you have the necessary skills.

still a good idea though.

bartender sounds Like a job where you wold meet hot waitresses, depending upon location. Not really low stress though.

Anything in the medical porfession will introduce you to women, still not low stresss though.

b;ah blah, I do vet [censored] and meet lots of women.

Meh. My experience is it can be done in about 6-8 months or less - YMMV. Note that I didn't notice that he's looking for a job to have for 9 months before my earlier reply (to the OP). Barback's still not that bad of a gig relative to the OP's requirements, depending on where you end up working.

I've always wanted being a short order cook in a diner or something. Don't know why, just think it would be fun to do for a while, flipping burgers, making scrambled eggs etc.

If you're 21 you could get an entry level job at a brewery. I had a couple friends who worked at Stone for a while. Basic stuff like loading trucks, but they got a free case of Stone each month.
