Ok. I may start there - 6/14 also reads like it was a hell of a night as well. This evening's game is pretty dry but I still feel compelled to watch until the end. I'm something of a masochist, I guess...

I can hear the table when Bart comes up for air. Dave, don't teach him how to announce without breathing.

Dave, taking the card has got to be right. I don't know a lot about no limit hold'em, but this is one I read in one of the better books. Sorry I can't remember which. It actually called it a "beginners' mistake," or something like that. You're going to get paid if you hit the hand and your opponent has a smaller flush draw, or maybe trips. You're going to get bet off the hand if he has trips. Worrying about getting bluffed off the hand at the end is silly. If you miss, you've got got ace high. You can't even beat a bluff like pocket 6's.

The hand in the book was not exactly the same. The player had top pair and the nut flush draw, and there was no pair on the board. Still.

And if you want to worry about getting bluffed off the hand, why not start worrying about that on the turn????

Thanks for watching - I have to say I love that game. Unfotunately, I couldn't pick up a big hand...the hand that should have netted me about $600 ended up costing me $440 - oh well, live and learn. I'll say their are times to take the card and that was probably one of them. Having said that, I'll say against Amir, I want him to continue to check-raise me. He loves to make moves on me and I don't want him to stop. But...in that case, I should have taken the card. Ooops - I'll learn. Against some players, you should bet though...I really think that. One reason is that if you think you can get him off a small pocket pair, you do want to bet sometimes. If the river comes off blank - it'll be hard to bluff out a small pair...He'll think you're betting your missed draw.

It's always a fine line with poker - in this case, I was on the wrong side of the line. I'll learn from it. Well, have a great 4th of July weekend!!!

See ya next wednesday...
