first of all, i know for a FACT that if i was the highest i've ever been, i SURE wouldn't be around a bunch of cops...

that said, the last time i dealt with acid, i was designated the driver since i was more with-it than anyone else...

we had to drive home from pittsburgh to around youngstown, for the geographically challenged, think about an hour northwest...

the first time we realized that we probably weren't near home was after about 2 1/2 hours, when we saw a sign that niagra falls was 10 miles away...

how we missed the fact that we went through several toll booths, and didn't see the huge 'welcome to new york' signs, i dunno...

where do you get the 15 year number from, out of curiosity? i'm not challenging it but i know the Sandoz lab in Switzerland where most of the pure 25 came from stopped distributing to the US when the drug became illegal in 1967.

I assure you it was only because I believed at the time that the alternative was worse. I wouldn't play poker in that condition - I'm talking about the kind of high where you still know things like your own name.

There was plenty of high quality LSD available until about 6 years ago. Its availability has decreased, but to suggest that it being speedy and laced with strychnine is a concern shows a lack of knowledge about its production and active dose. The available LSD may not be LSD-25, but it is certainly a comparible analogue.

I recommend that people be cautious, as with all street drugs, but don't let urban legends about speed and strychnine poisoning put you off. Those substances aren't active in small enough doses to do anything to you in the amount it's possible to consume them on a tab of acid. For this reason I think it's slightly safer to get paper than liquid, but either is unlikely to be anything other than acid or nothing. There are a few recreational drugs active at that dose (5meo-dipt etc), but they are much rarer than lsd.

Looking into the origin of the strychnine rumor, some slim basis for it can be found. One report in the professional literature was by Sid Schnoll (Schnoll, SH & Vogel, WH (1971) New Engl J Med 284(14):791) who reported a positive thin-layer chromatography (TLC) result in a sample of LSD.

Stanislav Grof claims in his seminal "LSD Psychotherapy" (Appendix 1, p310) that any black market LSD is not LSD25, but he doesn't give much backup for it. He does attribute it as another analogue, and says:

Weed: I think there's a big difference between B&M and online play. I take a bong hit every night before I play online, and I'm up about $100K over the last 12 months. I certainly don't get trashed, but I think being a bit high has had no negative effect on my online play, and probably a positive one, as it makes me a bit more patient. B&M play is different, and while I've tried it a few times I personally don't find that playing high helps me there. To each their own.

Funny story: I was playing 20/40 at Lucky Chances and the guy to my right was leaving the game every 20-30 minutes to go out and smoke a bowl. I wasn't high, but it was obvious that he was. After the third time, he came back just reeking of pot. I said to him, quietly, "Be careful, I can smell it." He didn't miss a beat and came back with, "What, the pot or the fart?"

LSD: There's no way I could play while dosed. I get The Fear much too easily, and it would not be a good time. I also haven't dosed since the early 90's, having pretty much gotten all of the positive things I was going to get from the experience. OTOH, I have friends that could and have played while dosed in B&M casinos. On the whole, I can't see it as being +EV, but some folks have a surprising tolerance and affinity for being dosed; YMMV.
