Default bending cards?

this is a serious question.

i watch the poker on TV and see the "pros" often do a serious bend of the cards to look at them.

can i do that in a casino too? or will they not appreciate it? i.e. pro's can get away with it and they can change decks alot more.

a more generic question: is there any information as to how cards are made and what special processes they may undergo? wondering as i'm always positively shocked how cards never seem to flip over by accident and they seem to undergo alot of abuse without showing the effects

thanks in advance!!

The cards used in most poker rooms are made of plastic and cost ~$15 per deck. They are made to take significantly more abuse than the paper cards used in most pit games.

So yes you can do it without hurting the cards and they won't care. The real question is can you do it without showing the two people next to your your cards?

i can still cover them, just means i don't have to stick my head down much.

much easier way to do it, but i'm often shocked at how big the bend is.

you may be right that they do it more when the table is short.

The cards used to play poker generally don't bend (I mean they go back to being flat after you bend them). They will warp if stored incorrectly and they will break if you bend them too far (but that takes close to a 180 degree bend).

Buy yourself a deck on ebay and try them. If you've never used a real deck of cards, you'll be amazed at the difference. You can buy a 2 deck set of Copags for around $15.

You can bend them, spill beer on them, wash them, etc. I remember the days of buying 3 or 4 decks for one night of playing. No more!

I suggest the 4 color ones. They're amazing.
