Default Checking out the Showboat

I'm going to go down to AC for a night -- this Friday -- and am meeting up with my old college roommate for 24 hours of poker.

I'm gonna be playing 3/6 at the Showboat/HOB on Friday night. Saturday we're planning on the 10:15 am 80+20 freezeout at the Taj. Any 2+2ers gonna be around?

If they have 3-6 going. I suppose they will on a Friday night. Hope you and your friend don't smoke.

The Taj tourneys suck eggs. Worst structure in AC (that I've played in). You'd probably be better off playing at the Trop for $125 or HOB for $50.

Thanks for the advice. We don't smoke -- I assume by your comment that it's a non-smoking room, and that's great.

Ah, thanks. Maybe we'll walk next door to the Taj, then.

The Showboat's pretty awful. Some great waitresses and a few good dealers, but the management is abysmal, as is the selection of games.

The Showboat had some of the best 1/2NL action I have ever seen live...and the room is nice, but other than that...not many players and they don't spread any games.

I didn't see a game above 1/2NL and 2/4 the whole weekend I was there.

When I showed up for the Saturday morning tournament once...there was one 1/2NL game going. The apparent big winner was getting up...there were about 6 players on the table with less than $300 amongst them. 5 minutes before the tourney started, that game broke up. A couple hours into the tourney, they had 2 2/4 and 2 1/2NL cash games going.

Thanks for the additional info. My buddy and I are staying at the Showboat (it was the best rate we got when we booked since neither of us qualify for a poker rate + it's a Friday + a holiday weekend). I'm sure we'll try to play in the HOB room there, which sounds like it's physically nice even if the action is crap. If we can't find a game we like, it's a 2 second walk to the Taj, although the thought of playing with those Taj chips again kind of turns my stomach.
