When Should You Just Call With AA?
In general, facing a raise, I reraise preflop with Aces. I'm wondering whether there are situations where just calling preflop and trying to get the rest in on the flop is "correct." Here's a situation in which I think you should just call preflop and hope your opponent catches a piece of the flop.
1. You have a stack large enough so that a push preflop has some fold equity given your table image and are in middle to late position facing a raise from another middle to late position aggressive preflop player. 2. An aggressive preflop raiser's c-bet on the flop would add a significant percentage to your stack, or would be likely to pot commit him. I don't know exactly what stack sizes I'm talking about here, but likely somewhere around 15BB I suppose. When do you not mind risking another caller behind you with your AA? Is it ok to get another caller giving you a chance to more than double up or is there too much risk to justify the potential reward? Flame away! Holdemphile |
