Re: Found this PM; maybe it is useful? (preflop play)
edge,
Thanks for the post. Don't be a stranger to SSNL. dbitel, To add to what edge already mentioned: I was talking to a HSNL player about the strategy of calling more HU against a late position opener. I asked him about his opinion on calling a lot HU OOP and betting and check/raising a habitual late position raiser. Basically, he said that against a good player, you are still going to be making too many mistakes OOP. A good player will use position and force you to make more mistakes than he will make. He'll float your check/raises or 3-bet lighter. He'll start floating your leads more, and also start slowplaying more in position to trap you into overplaying mediocre hand and to induce more 2nd and 3rd barrels with his monsters. I've been working a lot more on reraisng OOP. Having initiative is just so important, and reraising light also gives you a LAG table image to the fish (offcourse they don't realize that you aren't 3-betting them light, so you get paid off more). Basically, playing OOP against good players in NL bites. |

Re: Found this PM; maybe it is useful? (preflop play)
Edge, thank you so much! Very helpful.
C-bet sizing is something that I really struggle with, and I would love to hear your thoughts on the matter, and standard c-bbet size if you have one. [ QUOTE ] I personally make a continuation bet almost every single time heads-up and at least 90% of the time 3-way. [/ QUOTE ] Wow, 90% when three-way is really high, much higher than is generally recommended at SSNL. This immediately -EV, right? Would you do this less often at lower limits like 200NL, or do you think the drop in folding equity is outweighed by the added payoff you receive with big made hands? |
