How to get weed in a strange city (DC)?

Here is how you find weed in a new place:

1) Go to a bar or a casino or whatever.

2) Strike up a conversation with some young people. Just ramble for 5 minutes or whatever, mentioning how you're visiting for the summer, etc. Normal chit-chat.

3) Say something like, "Damn, I'd love to get stoned this weekend."

4) If weed isn't directly offered, ask, "do you happen to know where I could score some smoke?"

go to the Kilimanjaro club or some other reggae spot...should be a good start.

I travel quite frequently and its the first thing I do when I get to a new city. Suggestions:

Native English speaking cabbies. These guys are your best bet by far. Just get in the cab with a friendly Anglo cabbie and you're set. I don't mean this as a racist remark, but the guy who just came over from Pakistan may not be able to help you out.

Bartenders - especially at strip clubs.

Bike Couriers - while they may be a bit sketched out by the request, if you find the right one you're money.

See if there are any concerts in town that appeal to the weed-smoking masses. Hang out outside and ask around.

Local colleges and universities are a good bet too. It's all about striking up a random conversation without seeming like an undercover cop.

If all else fails, hang around the local 7-11 until someone buys some rolling papers. Then just ask them.

Also, years ago the 'signal' for a dealer was someone walking around carrying an unlit cigarette. I'm not sure if this is still the case - but it's worked for me in the past.

Remember that in a strange city with no connections, you're usually going to have to settle for substandard product at an inflated price. It's up to you whether or not it's worth it. Also, us folk here in Canada don't have to worry about entrapment (it's illegal here) - so that's something else to consider when you're looking for herb.
