I think he says "You Vermin" [/ QUOTE ] You might be right, I did it by ear a long time ago. I might have thought that was Russian. Or maybe the closed captioning cleaned up the language. |

Re: The final hand in the movie Rounders
[ QUOTE ]
Does he have AA because Teddy says "are you on a draw Mike?" on the flop as well as "that ace could not have helped you" on the river. [/ QUOTE ] Both of those quotes are describing KGB's read on Mike. I don't think they have anything to do with what he has. Both the turn and river cards were no help to a draw. If my read was that Mike was on a draw, I would have went all in too. As far as KGB's hand...we will never know. All we can do is make an educated guess. |

Re: The final hand in the movie Rounders
Is he putting Mike on a gutshot plus an over? Or is it a weak open-ended like 4,5? Either way, I would be wary of a good player just calling a big bet on a flop like that. Big mistake to bet the river. It's obviously a slowplay. And how does KGB not catch on to the acting job? Either KGB sucks or he thinks Mike sucks. There aren't any other alternatives.

Re: The final hand in the movie Rounders
ALright as a hijack to this thread I was thining about another hand in the movie, and even found the script but the numbers wern't there.
Before this part of the match they play for $10k heads up. I want to know what the blinds are when Mike raises to $1000 with Kings, and Teddy reraises to $5000. Mike: He's representing Aces, the only hand that beats my Cowboys, I can't call and let him catch, I can either fold or {moves all in}. This movie is retarted. It makes sense to all the donkeys out there. Someone please tell me the action in this hand, and add any commentary you see fit. |

Re: The final hand in the movie Rounders
I would guess KGB had AA.
He could have been limp reraising preflop. Then value betting the heck out of it. Then telling the truth on the river that the A did not help Mike. |

Re: The final hand in the movie Rounders
I could have sworn the first game with the 10k buy in played with 25-50 blinds, then when they played 20k heads up they doubled them.
The only copy of the script I found with a quick Google search actually had the amounts omitted - apparently the stakes involved in the movie were not set until pretty late in the game. -- JL |

Re: The final hand in the movie Rounders
the stakes are rediculous for the action if they are what I think.

Re: The final hand in the movie Rounders
his hand is irrelevant. the point is matt damon got him to think that he couldnt call a bet on the end.

Re: The final hand in the movie Rounders
IMHO I think KGB had 67, or (AT / AA) and slow played them pre-flop. His pot size bet of 13,000+ on the river could only be called by a hand that would beat a single par he must have had something better.
My best guess again is he put Mike on a hand like T7, 67, T6 and thought his trip aces or at worst top two pair (AT) would be called by Mike on the river. Does this make sense? |
