The **official** Aceshigh7 is right thread
After watching the last 2-3 weeks of baseball, I have come to the stunning realization that Aceshigh7 is actually correct. There is absolutely no reason that the Astros could not make the playoffs, and even win the first round.
I know, I know what you are thinking. "But JVS, the Astros are pretty bad! They don't score a lot of runs, and their pitching is medicore as well! They are stricly an average team at worse, and possibily may actually stink!" Dear friends, you are right! ALL of those are valid points! But mayhaps there is something else you are not considering: With the possible exception of the Mets, THE ENTIRE REST OF THE NL SUCKS BALLS TOO! In particular, I've been watching the top 3 teams in the NL central (CIN, HOU & STL) absolutely get their asses handed to them by DET & CWS for a couple of weeks now. Not a single one of the three IMO would even take 2 games in a best of 7 series with either of those two teams as it stands. StL's rotation is literally 1 good starter & 4 guys with 5-6 ERAs, and their offensive is a grand total of 2 players deep. CIN's bullpen is worse than 2/3rds of AAA bullpens, and some AA bullpens as well, and their offense scores 8 runs 2 days a week and 1 run the rest. The Mets are good, but the rest of the NL East is utter dreck. No one in the West is particularly scary either. In summary, The Houstaon Astros are dreck, but being the best of the dreck is good enough to make the NLCS this year. Aceshigh7 is, as always, correct; there is no reason the Astros can't make the playoffs. jvs |

Yes we've known all along that the NL is one pathetic league. But I do think that the other NL teams are better than Houston and when interleague play ceases, I do think that they'll be edged out for the wild card. Even if they do make it, like any NL team, they'll get pwned by the AL rep.

We always wondered if Aces Dad would ever come forward and claim his son!

Last year they went 0-4 against them, and they actually have a better lineup this year. You really don't think they could have won 2 of 7? The Sox got pretty PWNED by a rookie Taylor Buccholz, and Roy O. |

JVS, The Astros almost took 2 of 3 IN Chicago [/ QUOTE ] Well that's certainly one way of looking at it. Another way of looking at it is that you almost got swept. Sorry large. |
