Default Bike/Commerce/Hustler - where to stay, how to get there

I was thinking of making a trip to LA to play in the casinos there. A guy at my local casino, who claims to have played all over the world, said he loved the LA casinos but the areas around them are so bad he wouldn't drive his own car there (he told me to get a cab or limo).

Are the areas around the casinos really THAT bad, or is this just an old guy who has spent too much time living in the suburbs.

On the same note, if the areas around the casinos are not so good, where is a good place to stay if you plan on spending a lot of time there.

They certainly aren't Disney Land.

The commerce is a hotel so I just normally stay there. Call them they will pick you up from LAX. The Bike is a short cab ride away, Hollywood park is over by the airport but I wouldn't bother, and the Hustler is so small in comparison to the other clubs that if it weren't for the name I wouldn't have ever stopped by.

The area around the Bike and Commerce isn't the greatest but it's not all that bad. I've walked across the street from the Bike to the Ramada Ltd (not so nice) at 3am many, many times and I've never been bothered. The Commerce is in a sort of industrial area and the Wyndham Garden down the block (shuttle service to the Commerce) is a very nice hotel. If you don't mind the extra expense stay at the Crowne Plaza at the Commerce.

if you talk to a floor guy at commerce, theyll give you the players rate (109 a night, but i heard some people get 99, or used to or something)

i was there for most of this month and i didnt think the area was that bad, if you get a car(not necessary really unless your not a degerate gambler who spends every waking moment at the table like me) you wont have any problems at all just parking it at the commerce

theyll send out a limo to pick you up from the airport or whatever if necessary, its free you just have to tip the guy

I believe it's available for anyone playing in the top section (20-40 and higher). You just have to call and speak to a floorperson (I haven't actually done this, but that's my understanding).

Commerce policy is to and from the Airport only in the limo for 20/40 and higher players only, but I did talk the guys into picking me up from my hotel which was 1 mile from the airport once I explained I was switching my hotel room to the Commerce. It took a lot of convincing though $$$. There is also a local shuttle mini-bus that will take you to shopping destinations within a mile or so.

Whenever we go to LA (about every other week), we always drive and stay at either the Crowne Plaza (at COmmerce) or just down the street at the Wyndham Garden In (only when the Crowne is booked).

The Wyndham is cheaper but the Commerce is nicer all around.

Between the three casinos you mentioned, I would pick Commerce, no question. I LOVE the commerce, and would really trade all poker rooms in Vegas (Venetian excepted) for that one room. The action is incredible and the amenities are top notch.

The Crowne Plaza, coupled with the Commerce is a guaranteed great weekend. Be sure to order food tableside to get the best deal. $4.75 for smoked salmon eggs, breakfast potatoes and toast. It is called the Super Pan Special is is well worth it!

Good luck!

I grew up in Los Angeles. Hollywood Park is in Inglewood, which is a not a great place to be after dark. I hate Hollywood Park, don't waste your time.

I frequent the Hustler Casino when I'm in town. It is also in a rough area, it is about 2 miles west of Compton. A police chase ended at the Hustler Casino about a year ago, the guy actually crashed into the building and I believe that the casino security shot and killed the guy.

I've seen Shannon Elizabeth (American Pie's Nadia) twice at the Hustler, not to mention Mr. Flint himself.

The action is good. I think that the 4-8 LHE game is the easiest game in the state of California. It is a one blind game, and the players are terrible. The 6-12 game is hit and miss, but the jackpot for 6-12 seeds at 40K.

The cocktails waitresses are hot, but the dealers broken english gets old fast: "Cheh o Beh" (check or bet)

No, the areas around the casino's are not bad enough not to drive your car. You'll be perfectly fine driving. Don't worry. Do a search for more info on this topic.
