Default Low limit in NM?

My wife and I will be in NM for a few days starting next weekend. What is the low limit poker situation (if any) at Inn of the Mountain Gods near Ruidoso and in the Santa Fe/Albuquerque area? Limits? Decent places to spend a couple hours? Thanks for any info you can share.

Isleta, 10 min south of ABQ has 2/4, 2/10 and 1/2 NL most nights. (Where I play regularly)

Sandia has a much larger poker room and starts at 4/8 and offers NL almost all the time.

Routte 66, 15 miles West of ABQ has 2/4 and NL almost all the time. It's also the smallest poker room of the three.

no idea about the action in Ruidoso.

I play at Sandia 1-2 times a month when I come into town. They have 2/4 Limit thru 10/20 limit going every day/night.

Also, they have a 1/2 NL (40-200 buy in) and an occassional 2/5 NL (100-500 buy in).

PM me if you have any questions about Sandia and enjoy the trip. Also, the rooms are incredibly nice there

Inn of the Mountain Gods poker room has 9 tables. They reliably have $2/$5 NLHE ($100 - $300 buy-in), $2-$10 LHE and $5-$10 Omaha. On weekends they usually have $3/$6 LHE, and, on Saturday, the "Big Game" ($5/$10 NLHE (Min. $500 buy-in)

I only play the $2/$5 NLHE, and the blind/buy-in structure makes for a pretty decent game; I find this low limit NLHE structure to make for a decent game; the play is usually rather loose, and there is money to be made. (SirFelixCat - you owe it to yourself to chck this game out one of these weekends!!!)....

The "Big Game" usually has large buy-ins, and the play can be very agressive; I'm not ready for that game, due to the cash involved, and the reported variation from a few I've talked to....

The few times I've played the $2-$10 variable LHE game, I've found it to be very beatable, but my exposure is too limited to spaek authoritavely. I personally don't like the $2/$10 structure.

The Poker Room is no-smoking, though there is smoking on the rail, and in the adjacent casino....

The management is improving, but they have some peculiar habits (no MP3 players, slow filling of vacant seats, liberal allowances for absences from the tables, etc.)...

All games are eligible for a jackpot (Bat Beat > Aces full of sevens). Rake is $3 max, and $1 for the jackpot.

Most dealers are competent and pleasant. Tournaments on Sunday afternoon, Monday and Thursday nights. The tournament structure isn't favorable, with short levels and quickly rising blinds.

The Inn was completely rebuilt and only repoened about a year ago; the Casino is nice; no drinking at the games/tables; adjacent bar and a couple of restraunts; pretty decent buffet....

I have been a critic in the past, and only played occasionally, but have become a "regular" and recommend it to anyone in the region....

Thanks for the responses. I'm not interested in anything too serious. Just a couple of hours of low limit poker to get my fix until I go on my next Vegas trip (basically a 3 day low limit poker-thon) at the end of August.

Since I'll be in Ruidoso this weekend, I'll check and see if they have that 3/6 LHE game going on at the Inn. That sounds good to me.

2 questions: Is the Isleta casino south of ABQ a nice place to play? Is it the type of place I'd want to spend any vacation time? I know Sandia is a nice place. How do they compare? Also, what is the Cities of Gold casino just north of Santa Fe like?

Thanks again for the thoughtful responses.

Inn of the Mountain Gods tourneys are Sunday, Monday, and Wednesday. I saw something that they have a winner take all SNG every day, the buy in was either 12+5 or 15+2.

2-10 spread limit is easy to beat. I haven't played the 2/5 NL since they upped the buy-in from 200 to 300. I didn't like it when it was 200.
