I made 10k today - what should I do with it?

Through an excellent circumstance at work, I was able to quit my job and collect a nice severance package. I have another job already lined up, so the severance package is just gravy, and not something I need to live off of as I search for a new job.

So, after I pay off some debt, I will probably have about 10k to invest somewhere. My bank has a 7 month CD which is at 4.6% APY, and a 15 month CD at 5% APY.

I have a wife and toddler, so I can't do anything too high risk.

Are the CDs an ok option? Any advice?

Why would you put any money in a CD @ 4.65% when online savings are yielding 4.75%?

The real serious answer?
$4000 into Roth.
When you start new job, up your 401k contribution to the max. Live off of the 6000 to make up for the increased 401k contribution. When the 6k is gone, lower your 401k back to normal.

This is assuming you have a good bit of money set aside for emergencies in an internet savings account earning 4.25-4.75%.
