This might suggest that when the technician came to disconnect the cable, he may not have had a filter on him and decided that leaving them apart was good enough.

[/ QUOTE ]

The coaxial cable is the same for the internet and tv, so having it be disconnected wouldn't make it any sense since he did have internet...

This is awesome. I sat on a jury about 5 years ago, and the defendant's father was trying to provide an alibi for his son.

Dad: He was with me that day. We were watching the De La Hoya - Mosely fight.

DA: Was this a pay-per-view fight?

Dad: Yes

DA: Do you have a receipt for the fight?

Dad: We have a "black box"

DA: ...so you're stealing cable?

Dad (indignant): We paid for the box!

[/ QUOTE ]

This didn't draw an objection?

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't recall...the only thing I remember clearly after this was that I was trying not to crack up in the jury box.

Sorry, all, about the hijack but as I'm not a lawyer; what would make this objection-worthy? Seems like he's cross-examining an alibi witness and trying to attack his credibility.

Actually nevermind, I just reread the way the questoins went, he didn't ask him if he was stealing cable till the guy basically said it unprompted, and the reason he was asking was to challenge that they were actually watching the fight, so yeah, you're right, its fine. (Evidence rules also vary somewhat from state to state).

Good news for you: the tech will be a 16 year old mexican who probably won't notice, and if he does notice, won't care. If he does notice just slip him a 20 and problem solved.

true story:

my friend got fed up with the hassle of stealing his neighbors wireless signals, so he called up to get cable internet. the tech came and hooked him up. later that day, he tries to watch csi or full house or something else awful, and hey, what the? no cable. so he calls the provider and complains that the tech disconnected his cable tv when he installed the cable internet. the customer service drone said, 'yeah, that's what they do when they do a service call to someone who is stealing cable'.

1. Was your friend actually stealing cable, or did the tech guy just screw up?
2. IF your friend was actually stealing cable, why on god's green earth did he call to complain when it was disconnected?

Find someoen you dont like and steal their filter. Or sneak into the cable place just like Solid Snake and/or Han Solo and steal the a new filter. You will probably need a disguise and/or an upside down box but I'm sure you'll be able to pull it off. GL and godspeed.
