Nobody's going to card Jennifer Tilly, nor anyone else in the room. I'm also sceptical that all of those guys got to the room at 10AM to go through make up, miking, etc. There's no way they'd ask pro poker players to do that.

There's nothing strange about "supporting" your SO in a general sense, but there is in this case. Its a cash game. It's not a final table with fixed payouts, where players are moving all-in frequently, and other players are moving up a pay scale when one leaves. It'd be like my GF sitting behind me at a live 10/20 game: the stakes are higher than what I normally play, but there's nothing fun for her about it, and her being there certainly doesn't help me in any way. There's no rowdy cheering section yelling, "Aussie Aussie Aussie! Oy Oy Oy!" every time I win a pot.

Don't be sKeptical. Filming started early in the morning. Google the show. It'll confirm what I'm telling you if you don't believe me.

Don't say things like "there's no way they'd ask pro poker players to do that." You'll only feel stupid when proven wrong, particularly since you have absolutely no basis for saying so.

Furthermore, I referred to their ages not bc of carding issues (are you that dense?), but because free drinks does not equal "getting hammered" for most people. Free drinks = getting hammered for most people in their early 20s.

As for supporting their SOs - Phil Laak played for 5-6 hours. It happened to run over 4 shows, so it seems like Tilly was there for a long time. Watching yout SO in a cash game where the buyin is $100,000 is probably something a fellow poker player wouldn't want to pass up. But that's just a hunch.

It's not just a cash game, it's a nationally televised cash game. Do you really think it's strange that they'd want to attend?

Do you ever play live poker in casinos? There are GFs and wives sitting right next to their BFs/Husbands ALL THE TIME in regular cash games, sometimes for HOURS.

Yeah and it's really lame. Usually these are 'trophy' girlfriends IMO. Shouldn't she have something better to do than at best sweat you, at worst serve as ornamentation?

they aren't always "trophies" and i'm not defending it. i'm just saying that it's pretty commonplace and has usually has nothing to do with seeking publicity.

For the record, filming was scheduled April 10-11, two days rather than three, beginning at 11:00 AM. Players were asked to arrive on the set an hour ahead of time for makeup and sound. With breaks and tape changes, play each day continued until around 2:00 AM, as 14 hours of play were filmed each day.

The issue of whether to allow "sweaters" on the set was discussed in the first season, and was okayed. A couple of players had their spouses or girlfriends present in the first season, and included Jennifer Harman's husband Marco and Daniel Alaei's fiancee Carmel. There are no monitors or plasmas on the set per se, making it difficult for the sweaters to see the action without sometimes standing behind the players, especially when a big pot is developing. I am not of the opinion that anyone who was allowed on the set was there to get television time other than the players.

You don't see the married guy's wives hanging out on a couch or having a martini.

Last season Jen Harman's wife Marco was loitering around the suite during play.
