Default 4/180- I resteal just like the pros

20 people left, 18 get paid. Villain has been playing slightly tight for a 4/180. I have been raising liberally in late position, and taking down the blinds uncontested. I am top 3 in chips at this point.

PokerStars Tournament, Big Blind is t600 with t50 antes (7 handed) Converter on pregopoker.com

UTG (t6298)
UTG+1 (t1857)
MP1 (t24448)
CO (t8637)
Button (t11650)
SB (t8026)
Hero (t34541)

Preflop: Hero is in BB with 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
<font color="gray">UTG folds</font>, <font color="gray">UTG+1 folds</font>, <font color="gray">MP1 folds</font>, <font color="gray">CO folds</font>, <font color="red">Button raises to t1800</font>, <font color="gray">SB folds</font>, <font color="red">Hero raises to t34491 (All-in)</font>

Does that look about right?

EDIT: 100th post. woo.

Suicidal or brilliant. Definately one of the two. I'd fold. But I am saving up FPPs to buy a new set of balls in the Stars FPP store so...

Even on the bubble I don't make this play if Villain has been playing tight from the button. If he has raised the button a few times in the recent past and you think he might be weak then its perfectly reasonable.

If the only thing I know about this guy is that he is "tight" I fold. When a tight player opens a pot it is more likely he has a good hand and therefore harder to get him off the hand.

Your loose image is also working against you.

Even "tight" players can't resist opening marginals on the button when its folded to them. Gotta get them blinds babay.

In my experience a tight button raising range is something like Ax, 22+, QJ+, maybe 89s+. If the player is especially tight/worried about making the money then the range is even smaller. Given Hero's loose image alot more hands are likely to call than usual.

For me that means there is no reason to risk this play. You are a chipleader and have a huge potential to pick up alooot of very easy chips before the FT. If you want to try a resteal then pick on someone who has been raising alot and who is more likely to be weak.

I'm not saying that this play is nececssarily terrible, but I think that you will have much better spots in the near future.

Getting called here is a huge disaster, not because you might lose 1/3 of your stack, but because you show down such a weak hand. You want to be able to abuse both this bubble and the FT bubble, and if you show down trash here in what I think is a marginal EV situation it will seriously get in the way.

If you think Villain is good, or have some other reason to think his button range is wide, then this is play is very good. But without that read wait for a better spot.
