Ha, that irony was completely lost on me until you pointed it out.

"My username is b/c of a specific hand I played."

You can't start a story like that and not finish....

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, OK, but it's not really exciting, more a reminder to myself. I was playing poker in Reno a few years ago and really thought I was hot stuff at poker. Playing some 3/6, I get dealt black aces on the button. Everyone (literally) calls, and I raise, but I HATE the situation, b/c I'm surely gonna lose and you just can't beat these bad players. The flop comes 89Q with 2 hearts. It goes check, check, check, check, bet, call, raise, fold to me. I fold, mostly out of irritation of these impossible to beat awful players, and the TERRIBLE situation I was put in with 8 players putting in 2 bets each against my AA.

My username is a reminder to myself that you don't always know everything, and you can always improve yourself, so I try to get better at poker every day, and not fall into the trap of "wow, I'm good". Also, to remember the long run, and that good play will be rewarded, and to think in terms of +EV and not ZOMG I LOST THAT POT. WTF I HAD ACES.

"and I am co with two red aces"

I always get a kick out of this, stories that include the color of the Aces or Kings. The red ones are lucky. The black ones are a bad omen, they should be folded PF.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, to cut the OP some slack, sometimes the suits of the Aces are important if a flush draw appears, and "two red aces" sounds a lot cooler than "AdAh".

This post does belong in BBV though. That is were posts go if you are complaining about getting all your chips in preflop with AA.

Here is another reason to move this to BBV
Holdem Hi: 1370754 enumerated boards
cards win %win lose %lose tie %tie EV
Ad Ah 920492 67.15 440509 32.14 9753 0.71 0.675
6s 5s 344708 25.15 1022455 74.59 3591 0.26 0.252
Ac Jd 95801 6.99 1265200 92.30 9753 0.71 0.073

With an EV of 0.675, your chip EV is 3*0.675 = 2.034.

You are complaining about a >65% chance to triple up. And you chipEV is greater than if you had only one caller.

I knew this guy had nothing, and I need to double up, the table had been very tight at this level. Also, my goal was to get all in PF, which is what happened.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have a better goal for you, make your goal be to win with the aces, and work towards not only getting all-in, but winning the all-in.

My advice is to work towards acheiving goals. You don't get all-in preflop by folding the aaces, do you think it is more likely that a "bad player" will call your reraise, or that someone in the blinds will try to squeeze play you.

I thought one of the blinds would squeeze. I had seen both do it several times in the last hour. If not I do have the discipline to throw AA away in a mulit way pot, which could have happened and I knoew that. I was taking a chance that someone would aqueeze. I was right then got unlucky, that's poker.
