Charles Dickens – ghastly, turgid and thoroughly overrated

And from the popular shelves...
Anne Rice
Dean R Koontz
J K Rowling
Dan ‘DaVinci Code’ Brown

Obviously what people mean to say is that Shakespeare's comedies are overrated. This is obviously true. They proved it in a lab somewhere. It's science.

If you don't like his dramas, though....well, to quote the Bard, I wouldn't piss on you to put out a grass fire.

Sorry guys, I like Fitzgerald. Too romantic and a bit uppity, but he can turn a phrase. Hemingway has his moments, but he gets to me too. I'd cut him some more slack than others.

Toni Morrison I can't stand. Tom Robbins is way overrated.

LOLOLOLOL @ Ayn Rand and L. Ron Hubbard taking up 7 of the top 10 "greatest novels of all time" according to readers. There are some dumb [censored] people in this world.

Also, Charles Dickens. Now that guy sucks.

back when i was in the job market, i used to bring a well-worn copy of Dickens to read while I was waiting for my interview. i think it helped more often than not.

I don't know if you are being sarcastic or not. But IMO, this book was very good.

Dom, you should have entitled this thread "Authors I Don't Understand." It would have fit most of the responses much better.
