Two brands, Neisson and La Favorite. Actually made at small family distilleries in Martinique from fresh sugar cane and not molasses.
Both brands offer 3 varieties white, ambre ("amber"), and vieux ("old"). As with tequila the white will be unaged, amber is aged 2 years or so, and vieux will be anywhere up to 10. Im terrible at describing tastes but here goes... The flavors of the whites and ambres in were very buttery, organic/vegetal, and sweet. Very "fresh" tasting. These are 100 proof too, but you wouldnt know as they are smooth. The aged versions of both brands nearly knocked my socks off! Toasted almonds, butterscotch, vanilla, and maple syrup. Increbibly velvety. Anyway, heres the distributers website. They are kind of hard to find and rare, but definately worth it. There is a store locator on the website. web page |
