Is it important that I inflation adjust the 10,000 buy in from 1972 instead of 1970, or can we live with it the way it is?

Just think, in 33 years 50,000 wont seem like that much, and the Horse Event will have over 5000 people in it.

I think they will be reasonable with the blinds. This announcement came along with the news that a player advisory board--Jesus, Negreanu, a few other pros--had been formed to advise Harrah's regarding player and tournament matters. Negreanu had griped in his blog about the overwhelming amount of NLHE in this year's schedule, and I think a lot of other pros felt the same. This should be the WSOP's way of making their top draws happier. To have a $50K buy-in with a crazy blind structure wouldn't make the pros happy, because their skill would not play as much of a factor.

Since you brought up inflation, you may find this spreadsheet I made back before the 2005 WSOP interesting:

I was wondering how HORSE actually works. Do they go to the next game after the button goes through one cycle or do they stick with the particular game for a longer period of time so players can adjust to the game?

I think this is an advertisement gimick for Harrahs. Obviously only the best players in the world will enter this event because not too many fish know how to play all these games well. Also, the large buyin makes it tough for the average guy to buy into it. Only the big names will play aside from a few lower profile players. This will make for great TV and even greater commercial advertisement prices. I think we will see a really good show though

I'm going to guess that it's going to work in the same way as the $3000 HORSE event at Tunica: each level is split in two, and one game is played in each half-level. So, they start at 25/25 hold'em, go to 25/50 O8, go to 50/100 razz, go to 50/100 stud, to to 100/200 stud-8, go to 100/200 hold'em, and so on.
