Need advice to find a good 2 player strategy game

i will be purchasing the puerto rico game and likely a GO set.

settlers of catan and lost cities will likely follow as they sound excellent.

Those games are the three I bought first when I started my board game collection. (Puerto Rico, Setllers, Lost Cities).. if you enjoy that style of game I have plenty more suggestions in the future.

For specifically 2 player games, I like Lost
Cities and Battle Lines.

Check out the games in the GIPF Project. I have Dvonn, Tamsh, and Punct and really like all three. Besides being great 2-person strategy games, the games themselves are very nicely made. The boards are nice and laid out so that moves can be annotated and the game pieces are high quality and fun to play with.
